Study on Korean aegyo attracts significant attention
Korean aegyo is a socially recognized childlike speaking style used predominantly in romantic interactions among adults. In their study, published on 18 August 2026, Prof. Dr. Volker Dellwo and Prof. Ji-eun Kim examined vowel space modification in aegyo by analyzing formant frequencies from twelve Seoul Korean speakers who produced identical scripts in both aegyo and non-aegyo speaking styles.
