MIAPARLE: A set of computer-based tools for the acquisition of prosody in a second language

Responsible:  Volker Dellwo & Sandra Schwab
Duration of the project: 2018-2019

Project Description:

MIAPARLE (miaparle.unige.ch) is a web application that will provide perceptual trainings on two specific prosodic features that have been shown to be problematic for L2 learners: lexical stress contrasts and tone contrasts. It will fill an important gap in L2 teaching, and especially in computer-assisted pronunciation training (CAPT) applications, where prosody is often overlooked. In combination with more general teaching methods, MIAPARLE, through its innovative nature, user-friendliness and effectiveness, will constitute an essential tool in the process of learning a second language.
